Latest Projects

The Friends of Old Stone Fort received two grants recently. One grant afforded through the Friends of Tennessee State Parks will go towards the installation of a boat shed at the park. This shed will house the parks canoes and kayaks, and will make it easier to Rangers to conduct floats on the Duck River to the benefit of the general public.
The Evan Means Grant was afforded through the Tennessee Trails Association. Monies from this grant will go towards the new Old Stone Fort Arboretum, which will be located along the Nature Trail and Garrison Road Trail. Friends members will assist the Park Rangers with the installation of tree signs for the Arboretum. Once the installation is complete, the Friends will seek certification through the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council to designate the Nature Trail and Garrison Road Trail as an official Arboretum. A minimum of 30 different tree species will be marked along these trails to comply with TUFC's requirements for Arboretums. For more information about becoming an Arboretum, please visit the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council Website.
